Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, organised a Hindi calligraphy competition as part of its Hindi Fortnight celebrations, aimed at promoting the use, preservation and correct application of the Hindi language. Around 85 participants registered for the competition.
The event focused on developing neat, clear, organised and grammatically correct handwriting while creating awareness about proper spelling, use of matras, punctuation and language style. Participants were given a common prose passage, which they had to reproduce within a stipulated time. Clarity of letters, correct spelling, uniformity, spacing, punctuation and overall presentation were among the key criteria.
University Vice-Chancellor Professor Anil Kumar Rai said handwriting remains an important part of students’ academic and personal development despite the availability of digital writing tools. He said regular calligraphy practice helps develop concentration, patience, discipline and observation skills, while encouraging students to make correct and regular use of Hindi in their academic activities.
Cultural Coordinator Dr Jyoti Pandey said students participated enthusiastically and were encouraged to read, understand and write Hindi in a clear and correct manner.
Registrar Mahendra Kumar Singh, Coordinator Professor Vijay Bahadur Yadav, Dr Jyoti Pandey and judges Professor Reena Pant and Dr Inderpreet Kaur supported the successful conduct of the competition. A large number of students participated in the event.
